We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Germany, but I'm always thankful for a lot of things (I'm good at being thankful :-)), and I love how you express it so perfectly.

Beautiful list! I loved reading about how you've grown into yourself. There's still more of that I'd like to do, but I'm definitely on the path toward it. And that feels good. It's lovely reading about your lovely life!

I will hunt through my purses and drawers prior to making a grocery list - because I also like to have a good pen. My current favorite is a sleek white Lamy fountain pen that my parents gave me for Christmas last year. It's been ignored for awhile, out of ink, but now that I have the right kind of refill cartridges, I'm pretty much poised to take on the world, one handwritten list at a time.

I'm thinking it's time for a re-read myself. And I love that so many people remember Anne's pen problems!

47 pens?!?! Wow, that's impressive. And as far as little luxuries - I think a Library Girl post on that sometime would be so fun. We both blog about the extraordinary in the everyday, don't we?

Serenity, I love the lines about the different kinds of silences! May have to blog about those sometime. :) I'm so glad there are other "true fans" with whom I can share what I love about Anne.

I always think of that line when I get a scratchy-nibbed pen!

I used to read the series through once a year (although now its more like every 2 years). I've always loved how I feel my self drawn to a different book depending on where I find myself in life. And although I have two boys, if one of them had been a girl she was going to be Anne Caroline (I wanted Anne Cordelia, but my husband and I negotiated).

Anyway... I'm thinking its time for the annual re-read. :)

That's it! You've convinced me that my next audiobook adventure will be the Anne of Green Gables canon. I've been doing Jane Austen but it's winding to a close. And Harry Potter is too pricey on audio.

As to pens, I must confess I have the world's worst handwriting so I go out of my way to never put pen to paper. I envy you!

In the bottom of a collection of purses that I was cleaning out , I once found 47 pens. No wonder I couldn't find any in the desk to write with! Richard is a great fan of good pens. I'll ask him which he prefers. I always know when I've gotten ahold of one of his. I find myself suddenly thrilled while writing a grocery list.

Here's to little luxuries.

That would be a fun post sometime. What little luxuries do people enjoy. Actually, now that I think about it----that IS what your whole blog is almost always about. You focus on the little pleasures in life that make ordinary days special. Great ideas are almost always taken, huh?

Ooh, I feel you! My problem is that I lose pens constantly, so I'm afraid to get attached.
