Inspired by Hula, I’ve decided to do a list a week this year – some funny, some random, some Big and Important. I’m a fan of lists (though I know no one who loves them as much as Valerie), so I’m enjoying browsing through the ideas on Listography.
For my first list: a dizzying array of the teas I drink over and over (I tend to stick with blends I like, though I will give new ones a whirl). Jacque asked for some tea advice the other day – so here it is…
My three favorite tea brands:
1. Whittard
2. Republic of Tea
3. Harney & Sons
My favorite teas, in no particular order:
1. Whittard Spice Imperial – black with cloves, cinnamon and orange peel. This might be my favorite tea ever. (Similar to their Christmas Blend, also wonderful, and Harney & Sons’ Holiday Tea.)
2. H&S Hot Cinnamon Spice – three kinds of cinnamon, cloves and orange peel. Yum!
3. Oregon Chai – the original mix blended with milk (I also like the decaf mix, for evenings).
4. Republic of Tea Dream By the Fire Herb Tea – Vanilla, cinnamon and rooibos. My favorite evening tea this winter. (I can’t drink caffeine after about 7 p.m. or I can’t sleep.)
5. Revolution Sweet Ginger Peach – Absolutely delicious. And available at my grocery store. (Republic of Tea also makes a lovely ginger peach blend.)
6. Republic of Tea Blackberry Sage – The tin says “Tea for Wisdom.” I don’t know if it works, but I love this blend that takes me back to my days at The Ground Floor.
7. Republic of Tea Cranberry Blood Orange – Tart, tangy and wonderful. (H&S Cranberry Autumn is also nice.)
8. H&S Paris tea – Kind of like Earl Grey, but with a little caramel. It makes me think of Paris. And Oxford.
9. Earl Grey – I love Whittard’s version the best, but I just love a good cup of Earl Grey, no matter the brand.
10. Yorkshire – Any self-respecting tea drinker who’s been to England loves a good, stout cup of this stuff, in the morning, with milk.
11. Tazo Apple Red – I am not a Starbucks fan, but I do love this apple-laced rooibos, which tastes kind of like hot cider. Also available at the grocery store, and caffeine-free.
These are the faves in my tea cupboard. Anyone else have favorite teas to share?
Hi lovey! Thank you! Part of my prob is that I am out of earl grey and Yorkshire… My old faithfuls. Sad day. I’m down to rooibos and peppermint and black cinnamon. Just craving something new! I’ll scurry to whittard and get experimenting. Xx
I love lists. It’s one of my new passions as well. I need a blank book for my purse, so I can make a list whenever I think of it! Things to write about, small-term goals, things to buy for the house – I love lists! And I wish I loved tea as much as you do, because I think it’s such a lovely drink. But I do get in a hot tea mood now and then, and when I do I’m so glad I’ll know which ones to buy!
Oh to be the supplier of some of those favourite teas! It is an honour! Yes that’s honour with a ‘u’ although spell checker is telling me I’m wrong!
Miss you sweet friend. xxx

Okay, two teas brands I’m obsessed with.
1) Mariage Freres. Do you know it? It’s like, the couture of teas and they have this gorgeous ballroom of a shop in Paris. You have to go next time you’re in Paris.
2) Mighty Leaf Tea. You can find this at fancy shops in the U.S. and the tea bag ARE MADE OF SILK. The citrus chamomile made me stop saying I wasn’t into tea–high praise from this coffee drinker.
OOh! I love lists. I’m going to love this feature.
I love lists. And tea. But I don’t want to bore you with German brands.
I rarely buy the same blends twice. And last time I wanted to, the tea shop didn’t carry it anymore :-(.
Sipping an almond-plum-flavored fruit tea now.
Love lists also. McSweeney’s does some of my favorite lists!!! Check them out for list inspiration: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/lists/
Oh… and I love TEA! It’s my new favorite thing… seriously… does wonders to regulate your body heat (imperative). And I’m currently experimenting with my own teas here… since they don’t really sell crazy teas in Armenia at a price I can afford. And when I come to Abilene… if you’re still there… we are having a tea-chat… PLEASE (after Sharky’s of course).
Hooray for lists and tea!
Years ago, I discovered a vanilla black tea at Crabtree & Evelyn, of all places, and it was a long-time favorite, though seldom purchased since the store was far away. It was discontinued at some point, but a few years ago I tried Bigelow French Vanilla. It’s nothing special – a reasonably priced grocery store tea in bags – but I LOVE it. Drinking my third cup of the day right now.
I think you should look at this list, because that picture tells me you need it. http://www.aa.org/en_pdfs/smf-121_en.pdf
I agree with May. Mariage Frères is a must in Paris. You won’t regret it. I love a herbal blend that I get in Europe: verveine/menthe (verbena -not lemon verbena- mint). Fresh, soft, delicious. thanks for a great list!
Maryse
I love love love Bangkok Lemongrass Rooibos from Teavana! Also Republic of Tea makes a seasonal tea that is available at Harry & David in the autumn called Hot Apple Cider Tea that is great. I had a wonderful blueberry maple tea that came in a cute little tin from Canada that was a favorite too!
Is anyone a fan of loose leaf tea? I’m just getting into the tea world and have heard it’s a wonderful thing. Any favorites out there?
Can iced teas count, too? I love Sunset Safari rooibos tea from Republic of Tea hot in the fall and Tazo Passion Tea iced in the summer, but my favorite tea ever is the house-blend Peach Mango Iced Tea at ZuZu Mexican restaurant in Dallas. It’s supposedly 98% decaf., but I sat in the restaurant talking to a friend for several hours one night years ago and drank so much of it that I couldn’t fall sleep until 5:00 the next morning! And any iced tea with fresh mint in it takes the cake for me. . . .
[…] I am a person who NEEDS breakfast, both as wake-up aid (hello, black tea) and as fuel to get me through the morning. Without it, I wilt by 11 a.m., becoming not only cranky […]
[…] skies. 10. Tea – how I love the warming ritual of a good steaming cup, and the flavors of my favorite blends. 11. Public transport – because I sure wouldn’t want to drive to work downtown. 12. […]
I’m a big H&S Hot Cinnamon Spice fan. I’m going to have to track down some of the others on your list to try. It’s so lovely to find another tea drinker.
