Note the people running back and forth in the beginning of this video (taken from the Rhapsody in Blue segment of Fantasia 2000, which is brilliant), then skip ahead to about 2:05 and observe the squished-ness.
I do love riding the T – so much more convenient than driving and parking, and our house is just two blocks from a station. But sometimes there’s not quite enough room to breathe.
Haha, this is so awesome! And exactly how I felt this morning when I was squashed between some guys back and some girls HUGE backpack. 🙂
Lol! I love the squished scene! That’s exactly how it feels, esp. on the way to a Red Sox game. Though in my experience as “the one responsible” for 18 students on the T in Boston, I also always felt a sense of pride when everyone (a) miraculously reassembled on the platform in time to catch the right-lettered green-line train, and (b) also managed to look just nonchalant enough whilst riding that we all blended into the locals and actually got asked for directions several times. The T is fun all around…but occasionally, you do miss the oxygen. 🙂
That’s how it feels on the BC shuttle too. Sometimes, I feel pretty much like that guy who crawls out of the elevator after everyone else has already gone on.
He he, makes me want to hum Rhapsody in Blue the next time I’m on a subway (T).
