Last year and the year before that, I’ve made long (but non-exhaustive) lists of the things I’ve done over the course of the year. It’s so much fun to look back on a year and appreciate all it has contained.
In 2013 I have:
- started a new job at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and loved every minute of getting to know my colleagues, my workplace and my new neighborhood
- read more than 240 books
- reviewed 45 of those books for Shelf Awareness
- celebrated five years of marriage to my love
- mused on being 29, turned 30, and visited Canada for the first time to celebrate
- met several online friends, including Sarah, in person
- returned to Cape Cod (twice)
- written for Art House America and TRIAD magazine
- flown to Texas three times to visit this little guy
- hosted my parents in Boston for the third time
- watched a lot of baseball, both at Fenway and at home
- gone on a serious Dorothy Sayers kick
- knitted 3 adult hats, 2 baby hats, 3 pairs of slippers, 4 cowls (including the one I’m wearing above), and 20 wee smoothie hats
- celebrated several Boston traditions for the third or fourth time, including Fourth of July fireworks, apple picking and Turkeypalooza
- mourned with my adopted city after the marathon bombings and rejoiced with it after the Red Sox won the World Series
- tried ballet, and returned to yoga
- survived my third Boston winter, including two truly massive snowstorms, and prepared for my fourth
- attended two work conferences, one of which I helped plan
- cheered on the Harvard Crimson at football and hockey games
- paid off my student loans! (Now we’re working on my husband’s loans.)
- joined a new book club
- planned dozens of worship services
- spent many lunch breaks in Harvard Yard
- welcomed Shanna back to Boston for a visit
- taken off to Maine with Abi for a girls’ getaway
- finally tackled Les Mis (the book version)
- filled up five journals
- gone back to NYC and visited the Berkshires
- settled more deeply into this Boston life of mine
What have you been up to this year? (Do you make lists like this?)
What an accomplished list!
I love your lists!
Thanks for sharing! I believe you have inspired me to create a list of my own…This is way better than a list of all the should’ves, could’ves, and would’ves!
