The crocuses in that triangular bed across from my beloved Darwin’s.
The daffodils tucked up against brick walls in Cambridge flowerbeds.
The witch hazel in front of the Harvard Art Museums.
Snowdrops tangled in the ground cover on a side street near my office.
Something’s coming, Tony sings in West Side Story. Something good, if I can wait.
I’m watching and hoping for spring, which isn’t quite here yet. (We’re just knocking on March, after all.) But these sprouts are giving me joy while I wait.
Even the tulips – a little early – are joining in the show.
What’s sprouting where you are?
It seems amazing you have sprouting at this time but it is such a hopeful sign. In Minnesota we are buried in snow. We have very mild days all week of over 40 degrees and sunshine, but it will take a long time to melt all the piles and piles of snow. But when it comes, Spring always seems like such a miracle.
It does! I’m sure we’ll have more snow, but these shoots of green do my heart good.
It may be 50+ today here in Syracuse NY, but not for long. Cold and snow headed back this weekend
For us too, I think!
We moved to our house in August last year and I have been curious to know if our property was home to any spring flowers. Over the weekend, I discovered we have a few tulips sprouting and a ton of daffodils. I don’t dislike winter, but I can’t wait until the daffodils bloom and my backyard is filled with a blanket of yellow flowers.
!! That’s so exciting!
There are visible weeds in my flower beds (groan), but more excitingly, my chives are coming back! I knew they are perennials, but was still surprised, since they were in a planter, not in the ground. Now to cook with them… 🙂
Oh, that is exciting!
